[Nhcoll-l] Feedback on Mold Remediation

Thanks for everyone for the responses and feedback! Most of the responses
were the same and the general approach advocated was to first vacuum the
specimens with a HEPA vacuum covered with cheesecloth and using a soft
brush to assist in removing the mold. Clearly have masks, gloves and coats
on. Then spritz specimens with some form of alcohol, and suggestions varied
here between isopropyl to ethanol and percent concentration, with one
conservator suggesting 70% EtOH because the water content would allow the
spores to open making it easier to kill off the mold, which makes sense to
me. We're going to being this process this week, so if I learn any more
lessons along the way I'll share them.
