[Yale Summer Carillonneurs]

Happy FRIDAY!

Tonight from 7-8PM we look forward to welcoming you all again for another
wonderful carillon concert performed on the 54 bells of the Yale Memorial
Carillon in Harkness Tower (*74 High Street*)! Doors will open at *6:30PM *and
the concert will be livestreamed on our YouTube channel (
https://www.youtube.com/@yaleguild) including a live video of the playing
cabin!

This week's concert is a very special one, because the performers are your
very own summer carillonneurs!

*Eric Gan*

Eric Gan is a rising second year Ph.D. student in Microbiology at Yale,
where he is co-mentored by Drs. Jing Yan and Noah Palm. Previously, he
completed his undergraduate degree at Yale, graduating in 2025 with a joint
B.S./M.S. in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology. Originally
from the California Bay Area, Eric now lives in New Haven with his cat,
Toast. Though much of his time is devoted to scientific endeavors, music
has always been an integral part of his life. Eric began playing piano at
the age of 5 and gave his first public solo performance at the age of 9
while studying with Dr. Igor Schochetman. From 2017 to 2021, Eric was a
recipient of the U.S. Chopin Foundation Scholarship, and, under the
tutelage of Ning An, was a first prize laureate of the 2019 Los Angeles
International Piano Competition and grand finalist of the 2020 Redlands
Bowl Concerto Competition, where he performed with the Hollywood Chamber
Orchestra. As an undergraduate, he was a finalist of the 2024 William Waite
Concerto Competition, as well as co-president, pianist, and percussionist
for the Davenport Pops Orchestra (DPops), Yale’s largest musical ensemble.
In the fall of 2025, Eric joined the Yale University Guild of
Carillonneurs, doubling his repertoire of keyboard instruments. Since then,
he has toured internationally with the Guild, performing in Belgium,
Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, and the United States. As a 2026
Yale summer carillonneur, he is excited to grow his carillon repertoire and
engage with the carillon community, both audiences and performers alike.

*Parker Verran*

Parker Verran is a rising undergraduate sophomore at Yale, studying
Chemistry (graduating 2029). Parker is deeply involved in his science
career on campus, including several Yale STEM mentoring programs, and his
work in the Malaker Lab, a mass spectrometry lab focused on mucins. Yet
despite this science-focused academic career, music has played a
foundational role in Parker’s life. Starting with clarinet in the third
grade, he fell in love with the collaboration and entrancing beauty that
comes with making music. Having learned seven instruments, Parker played in
and led many ensembles (string quartet, marching band, drumline, orchestra
saxophone sextet) throughout his life. Among these instruments and
experiences, playing piano became an emotional refuge and a particular
favorite. Naturally, this love for the keyboard led him to the Guild, where
he discovered a passion for the bells. He loves how carillon music
surrounds the audience with a rich sound, and how one can get lost in the
sounds of the bells. Highlights from his time in the Guild have included
touring across Europe and getting to play carillons that are centuries old,
and finding incredible community with his fellow Yale carillonneurs.
