There will be a Monarch tagging field trip Sept 18 (raindate Sept 19) at
Hammonasset State Park in Madison. Volunteers, helpers are needed and
welcome. Tagging consists of netting Monarchs, obtaining and recording
certain data (sex, wing condition, weather conditions) applying tag, and
releasing the butterfly. Meet at the nature center parking area at 10:00am.
In past years Monarchs tagged in CT have been observed as far south as
Florida. It would be great to have one of our tagged Monarchs recovered in
Mexico this winter or even better in southwestern USA next spring.
