There seems to be a flurry of people trying to sign off of the CT Leps
Server who don't know how to do it. In addition I myself have been asked
to forward subscription information to several people in the last month. I
have forwarded the information below to all of these individuals. It
appears that there is no one monitoring the list at this point so I thought
it might be helpful to post the information again.
I have saved the message below from Larry Gall which describes how to
achieve leaving the list as well as other choices for managing your
account. Anyone on a server should always save, file, archive this kind
of information which is sent to you when you subscribe.
Larry Gall posting 9/1/00 - (note: I have rearranged the original posting
so that the quick reference portion is at the top.)
Managing your CTLEPS-L subscription: all email for managing CTLEPS-L
subscriptions should be addressed to LISTPROC at LISTS.YALE.EDU (not to
the posting address of CTLEPS-L at LISTS.YALE.EDU). Some of the most
commonly desired actions are as follows:
Your desire: Text of email should be:
signup to the list SUBSCRIBE CTLEPS-L yourname
signoff from the list UNSUBSCRIBE CTLEPS-L
short info about the list REV CTLEPS-L SHORT
full info, including subscribers REV CTLEPS-L
review your subscription settings SET CTLEPS-L
stop receipt of mail temporarily SET CTLEPS-L MAIL POSTPONE
resume mail delivery again SET CTLEPS-L MAIL
get mail as a daily digest SET CTLEPS-L MAIL DIGEST

A number of people have asked recently about how to go about modifying
their subscription to the CTLEPS-L list, so I thought I'd send some
explanatory email to everyone.
YOU MAY WANT TO PRINT THIS AS A QUICK REFERENCE ABOUT CTLEPS-L !
The simplest way to tell you how to control your CTLEPS-L subscription
is to tell you that CTLEPS-L behaves essentially identically to the much
larger list called LEPS-L. The only difference is the name of the list.
Having said that, there is a comprehensive set of online documentation
about LEPS-L at http://www.peabody.yale.edu/other/lepsl The documentation
covers subscribing, unsubscribing, postponing mail, and a wide variety of
other things. Thus, directions you need to know for CTLEPS-L are
there in the LEPS-L documentation -- just substitute the word CTLEPS-L
whenever the word LEPS-L appears, and you'll be on the right track.
I've included a snippet of the most frequent commands below.
Note that the larger LEPS-L list is also connected to a newsgroup called
sci.bio.entomology.lepidoptera, whereas CTLEPS-L is not so connected.
Best regards,
Larry Gall
(CTLEPS-L listowner)
