Milbert's Tortoiseshells

An excerpt of note from my web site (www.hmana.org/mulberry) this week:

"July 14 Wallkill National Wildlife Refuge Count (Sussex co) ... Most
exciting was the tally of 18 Milbert's Tortoiseshells. In that general
vicinity, near the NY-NJ border, a second hand report was received of 5
Milbert's in the Oil City Road area in the last week. So this is a species
to be on the lookout for (in the higher elevations, especially; near the
coast, use caution in your IDs, as Small Tortoiseshell must be considered),
with an unprecedented southward irruption apparently under way."

Something to think about if you live or travel northward this weekend.
