Playing catch-up for a few hours with the garden and yard at my house in Old Lyme today.
Cabbage White
Peck's Skipper
Tawny Edge Skipper
Silver Spotted Skipper
Little Wood Satyr
Juniper (Olive) Hairstreak
The Hairstreak was on the dirt driveway and when I first saw it the color was so pale and brown looking I wasn't sure what I was looking at. I ran in the house to get my binocs and camera, got a good look and managed one decent picture before it disappeared. My house is in a what was once a field and Eastern Red Cedars abound so it should be no great surprise to find a Juniper here and actually I have seen another about 10 years ago....This indvidual is definitely nearing the end of it's flight period,,but still nice.
Picture on request......Mourning Cloak caterpillar head count is 134 today.
