Field Trip Report- Flaherty Field Trial Area

On Saturday, 7/19, Ten intrepid butterflies joined me at the Flaherty Field
Trial Area in East Windsor.
Despite the heat and humidity, we were able to find a total of 30 species of
butterflies. The list for the day is as follows:
Black Swallowtail (3)
Eastern Tiger Swallowtail (1)
Spicebush Swallowtail (3)
Cabbage White (25)
Clouded Sulphur (15)
Orange Sulphur (15)
American Copper (6)
Gray Hairstreak (1) (This may be a new species for Flaherty)
Eastern Tailed Blue (4)
Summer Azure (4)
Great Spangled Fritillary (40)
Silver-bordered Fritillary (4)
Pearl Crescent (1,300)
Baltimore Checkerspot (5)
Question Mark (1)
Eastern Comma (1)
American Lady (3)
Common Buckeye (3) (Seen in PM only)
Red-spotted Purple (1)
Viceroy (17)
Appalachian Brown (1) (Seen in PM only)
Little Wood Satyr (5)
Common Ringlet (4)
Common Wood Nymph (400)
