Interesting that you mention buddhleia...We have three growing plants,
now about maximum 5 feet tall. BUT - on a hillside above the garden
which houses the plant, folliwng recent construction activities related
to " development", there are probably 10 or more plants growing
wild...This is in Peabody, MA...I'll have to keep my eyes open...
 
Gulf Fritillary in coastal NY is to be expected...eventually...Good
find, of course...

This wasn't in Connecticut, but close enough to get everyone thinking
about checking you Buddlea for southern strays even at this early date.
 
Today at Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge, I lucked into a Gulf Fritillary on
the butterfly bush by the visitor center. I think it's the first modern
record in New York. Some research will be required to determine if there
are any documented records for the state.
