Milbert's Tortoiseshells, Canaan

7/12/10 - Robbins Swamp WMA, Canaan. The rains yesterday produced many  
puddles along the dirt road bringing in many angelwings. Almost no skippers  to 
be seen. Here's the list:
 
Black Swallowtail 3
Eastern Tiger Swallowtail 1
Spicebush Swallowtail 1
Cabbage White 1
Clouded Sulphur 5
Speyeria species 2
Pearl Crescent 300
Eastern Comma 2-3
Angelwing species 8 - puddling
MILBERT'S TORTOISESHELL 5 - taking salt on the dirt road just after it  
comes off Rte 126 pics if anyone wants them
Red Admiral 5 - puddling
Eyed Brown 3 - one on swamp milkweed
Monarch 4
Wild Indigo Duskywing - 1
Northern Broken Dash 1
 
A quick stop near one of the quarries on Sand Road with some Black-eyed  
Susans (and hopefully Northern Metalmark) held a Viceroy and two Broad-wing  
Skippers but no metalmark.
