13 Butterfly enthusiasts braved the high heat and humidity for 21/2 hours
today to search for butterflies at Bauer Park. The fields were in excellent
condition, not being mowed and in full bloom with many varieties of wild
flowers.
The following species were recorded:
Black Swallowtail 1
Eastern Tiger Swallowtail 2
Spicebush Swallowtail 3
Cabbage White >20
Clouded Sulphur 1
Orange Sulphur 5
American Copper 1
Eastern Tailed Blue 10
Silver-bordered Fritillary 1
Fritillary sp (Meadow?) 1
Pearl Cresent 5
Anglewing sp (Question Mark?) 1
American Lady 2
Red Admiral 2
Common Buckeye 2
Viceroy 1
Monarch 7
Silver-spotted Skipper 4
Horace's Duskywing 2
Least Skipper >25
Fiery Skipper 1
Peck's Skipper 10
Tawny-edged Skipper 3
Little Glassywing 1
Zabulon Skipper 4
Broad-winged Skipper 2
26 species
