Well, Gary, in his understated and humble way gave you a brief synopsis of
the Monarch Tagging event at Light House on sat.
Here's my take on it..
Worked Sat night. Got to bed at 1:00 am. Set the alarm for 6 knowing I
would need to get to 7:00 Mass if I were to make the Migration Festival at 9:30.
Woke at aforementioned hour and wanted so badly to turn over and say..it's
raining there ..let me sleep.
Well, I am so happy I got up and got to the park at around 9:30. I drove
in and the Monarchs were literally sailing about Gary's head.
We had kids there all day..some stayed for over an hour. Their parents had
a hard time luring them away to the rest of the event. I assured them we
would still be there when they returned that way. And we were...left at 4:15.
Even NBC CT news stopped by and filmed for a bit.
This is what it's all about. Handing it down to the next generation. The
kids showed unbridled enthusiasm and we had the pleasure of standing back and
smiling at it.
On the way home I stoped at the Black Hall river, rt 156, Old Lyme and was
treated to a glorious sunset, Great Blue Heron, Night Hawks, and a Belted
Kingfisher.
so glad I didn't roll over and go back to sleep...Maryann in Niantic
