Subject:   Special Crypto-Gram Issue

Dear Colleagues -

Internet security expert Bruce Schneier, principal of Counterpane
Internet Security, and author of the important book "Secrets &
Lies: Digital Security in a Networked World" (Wiley, 2000) has been
frequently mentioned in these mailings, e.g.
<http://www.yale.edu/engineering/eng-info/msg00883.html>
<http://www.yale.edu/engineering/eng-info/msg00869.html>.

He also publishes a widely read newsletter "Cryto-Gram." The
last, special, issue
<http://www.counterpane.com/crypto-gram-0109a.html> is devoted the
the Sept. 11th terrorist attacks and their aftermath. It contains a
higher density of sound "reality check" type thinking about
security initiatives, precautions and delusions than most else I've
read:
 *	The Attacks
 *	Airline Security Regulations
 *	Biometrics in Airports
 *	Diagnosing Intelligence Failures
 *	Regulating Cryptography
 *	Terrorists and Steganography
 *	News
 *	Protecting Privacy and Liberty
 *	How to Help

Highly recommended! Other Crypto-Gram back issues are available at
<http://www.counterpane.com/crypto-gram.html>.
