Returning Students Sound Out on Term-Time Study Abroad...
"You will not regret it. It was the best academic choice I've ever made."

"People rarely regret going abroad, but often regret NOT going abroad. It's an incredibly valuable and unique experience, and especially if you only spend one semester abroad, you return to Yale feeling refreshed and with a new perspective on what it means to be a student here. Don't let concerns about what you'll miss hold you back, and instead focus on what you'll gain through this experience. And encourage your friends to go abroad too--that makes it a lot easier!"

Study Abroad Program Highlight: The Swedish Program
Bergman. IKEA. Vikings. The Nobel Prize. H&M. Acne Jeans. The Swedish Chef.

What do these things have in common? They are from, or associated with, Sweden. If you are interested in doing something 'different' for your Term Abroad, consider The Swedish Program<http://swedishprogram.org/>. As one Yalie put it, this program is "a great opportunity for students to get an amazing perspective on an amazing country." Another said "I love Sweden. Wonderful people and country. Great place to study and live."

Courses are available in variety of subjects such as political science, economics, film studies, gender studies, literature, environmental policy, international studies, globalization, Scandinavian art and architecture - all courses (except language courses) are taught in English, so you don't need to speak Swedish to go on this program. It is also sometimes possible to take engineering courses at KTH through this program.

Stockholm is a beautiful city, on 14 islands - and it's not as cold as you may think. The city offers great access to cultural activities, museums, outdoor activities (remember those 14 islands!), historical sites, Scandinavian design, and good food. Check out the Lonely Planet info on Sweden <http://www.lonelyplanet.com/sweden> and the Visit Sweden Stockholm pages<http://www.visitsweden.com/sweden/Regions--Cities/Stockholm>.

The Swedish Program will have a table at this year's International Opportunities Fair (9/25 from 1-3pm in the gym). Watch for more information about the fair in next week's Study Abroad E-News!
