There is very little in English on Masumura except the few
entries found in Stuart Galbraith IV's <The Japanese Filmography>
(Jefferson, NC: McFarland, 1966) and Thomas Weisser and Yuko 
Mihara Weisser"s <Japanese Cinema: The Essential Handbook>
(Miami: Vital Books, 1996).  As many of his heroines are played
by Wakao Ayako, Max Tessier's piece on her - "Ayako Wakao: 
Nameless Grace" in <Cinemaya> no. 11 page 36+ - does help us to
appreciate Masumura.
