Aaron, thanks for the information on the Mochizuki films. I'm looking forward
to seeing Another Lonely Hitman. I didn't pick "Gokuda zange roku" when making
my selections - but your description makes it sound very promising. I'm
definitely thinking of juggling my schedule around when at the festival to fit
it in. The Mochizuki film which looks the most interesting is another 1998(?)
film called Gedo (aka Outer Way). It's described as a "moral drama" about a
fired cop from the city who moves to a small town by the sea to discover a
"miasma of bent politics, dodgy religion, internet porn, disorganized crime,
and a little marijuana cultivation on the side." It stars Haku Ryu from
Takeshi Kitano's Violent Cop and Hana-bi.

Oops. Thanks for the correction. I haven't seen "Nemura otoko" myself but I
swear I've read at least one review which states Yakusho is the title
character. I thought he was excellent in both "Shall we Dance?" and "Unagi"
and I'm looking forward to his performance in "Cure."
Thanks to everyone who sent me recommendations. I'll post some capsule reviews
when I get back.
