introduction

Hello.  My name is Melissa Wender.  I'm a grad student at the University of
Chicago, currently trying to finish up a dissertation on the literature of
the Korean community in Japan from the 1960s to the present.  I'm hoping to
include a discussion of some recent films in my final chapter.  
I've always loved films -- both fiction and documentary -- but I'm just
beginning to think that  I want to talk about them in my academic career. 
(Early in grad school, I did write a paper looking at Chibi Marukochan and
Doraemon.)  Thoug I don't watch much tv here, I'm a tv junkie when in
Japan, and am looking forward to doing something about tv when I'm done
with my dissertation.
