Hello, everyone. I'm new to the list and very pleased to be aboard.
My name is Gary Scott Fine. I'm a citizen of the United States, but have
been living in Japan for about three years. I hold an M.F.A. in Cinema-
Television from the University of Southern California and an A.M. in East
Asian Studies from Stanford University. I'm currently a Monbusho Research
Fellow, studying Japanese film at Waseda University. I am interested in many
aspects of Japanese popular culture, but particularly in its cinema as a forum
for social criticism, and in the cross-pollination of Japanese and American
(as well as German and Russian) cinema.
I discovered Kinema Club through the monthly "Internet Guide" feature in
TV TARO. In addition to Kinema Club, the October 1998 issue introduced
several other resources devoted to Japanese film. For those of you who would
like to check them out, here are the addresses:

apologies for the redundancy!
