I just a Japanese film aficionado. My favorite directors are Itami
Juzo and Kurosawa Akira. I am also a Japanese language learner. I live
in West Palm Beach, Florida. I was wondering if any of you know of any
tribute or programming being devoted to Kurosawa here in the states
preferably in Florida. Or even any websites doing anything special to
commemorate his life's work. What I enjoy most about Kurosawa films is
his ability to capture human behaviors that transcend spoken language.
Specifically his ability to capture human language through the actors
body language or gestures. Also is tight use of closeup for emphasis
and to express intensity. You can follow any of his films in my
opinion without the aid of subtitles. I have not read any critical
reviews of Kurosawa work. This merely the observations of enthusiastic
enthusiat. Maybe you guys who have been studying for a while can tell
us what made Kurosawa so great. That would be very helpful to me and
would give me something to look for his film and those of other
directors. I welcome your comments.
