finding videos

I'm am putting a little time into brushing up Kinema Club, and want to
start a new section on "finding things." 

Could anyone give me hard info (like bibliographic data) on the indexes for
video distributors? 

        ---Can you walk into any video store and order a video?
        ---How about a bookstores?
        ---Are there particularly good stores to purchase video's from in
the major cities? (names/addresses/phone numbers/email)
        ---Surely there are now websites with searchable databases?
