Hello,
I am Shannon Moore, a M.A. candidate at the Center for Asian Studies
at the University of Texas at Austin. I received my B.A. in art history
at the University of California at Santa Cruz specializing in
(post)modernism and Japan. I am currently working on a Masters in
Japansese studies looking at performance art of the 1960s and would like
to pursue modern Japanese visual culture on a doctoral level.
I am trying to seek out potential Ph.d programs that would
accomodate a study of twentieth century Japanese visual culture.. I'm
attempting to locate specialists in the area of modern and/or
contemporary Japanese art/film/media studies with whom I could work .
I'm interested in visual culture from the Meiji through to the Heisei
era, but particularly drawn to the Showa period and the avant-garde. I
know that Gennifer Weisenfeld at Duke is one such person, but am trying
to track down others as well. If any one has any suggestions or leads
they would be terribly appreciated.
Thank you very much,
Shannon Moore
