THE CRITICAL STUDIES AREA IN THE UCLA DEPT. OF FILM AND TELEVISION is 
creating
a pool of candidates to teach occasional courses as needed on a variety 
of topi
cs at both the undergraduate and graduate (M.A. and Ph.D.) levels.

Areas of particular interest: American Film History, Television History, 
Cultur
al and Ethnic Studies of Media, European Cinemas, Non-Western Cinemas, 
Slient F
ilm, New Media History and Theory, Narrative Studies, Feminist Media 
Theory, an
d Gay/Lesbian/Bi-Sexual Studies.

Rank and Salary: Level of appointment and salary is determined by the 
candidate
's qualifications and professional experience.

Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in Film & Television Studies or related 
field; Un
iversity-level teaching experience which includes primary responsibility 
for la
rge lecture courses; and, a publication record commensurate with rank.

Positions Available: Fall 1999 or later. Appointments contingent on 
availabilit
