Hate to nit-pick, but one of the amazing things about Kimura's _Utau
tanuki goten_ was that this musical celebration of escapist fantasy was
made in 1942. One of the "legends" about that film was that the military
was quite upset over it, claiming such works should not be made at a time
of war.
