I`m new to this mailing list.
I am Korean and my name is Kang Tae Woong.
I am studying Japanese film history of early times in Hitotsubashi
University.

By the way, about the question that when `practice" of Korean film producers
either officially or unofficially remaking Japanese films started, the
answer, I think, will be from the start of Korean film history. The times of
Japanese aggression to Korea was from 1911 to 1945. It was the time that
Korean film history began. The `Benshi` was also found in Korea.

Then, next question will be how about the movies after 1945.
Legally, Japanese movies could not be shown to people in Korea.
Some( I say just some.) of the Korean producers abused that point.
So they brought the Japanese magazine `Scenario` and remade Japanese films
in Korea.
There are many of those examples.
(A lot of Ishihara Yujiro`s films were remade in Korean.
  Even Yukiguni.)

MBC(one of the Korean broadcasting studios) broadcasted the special program
about "practice" of Korean film producers` unofficially remaking Japanese
films.
I have a copy of that program.
If anyone want that, I can surely lend it.
(No English or Japanese subtitle. Only Korean.)

Sredewa mata.
