Uh, one more thing: I couldn't find out whether the rather abundant
display of male genitalia in Peter Greenaway's adaption of Sei Shonagon
was left unscathed in Japan. I'd like to know this for completing the
picture(s) of '96, in which Eirin got under pressure after asking for
bokashi in Antonioni's Beyond the Clouds, which Customs had passed
uncut. And to get an idea whether last year's Yamagata incident (Asian
male genitalia cut by Customs, native Indonesian genitalia left in)
follows some line of reason or was just an erratic judgment.
Ah yeah, for those of you who don't remember me: I'm writing my
thesis on Eirin, i.e. film regulation in contempo Japan (I already
promised to tell something more about that, but I'll have to wait until
my thesis is under the belt, hopefully next week).
Thanks for your help,
Udo
