J.M. Hall asked:

Prof. Fowler recently mentioned SWET (Society of Writers, Editors, and
Translators). In three years of translating here in Tokyo, I've heard
about the group through the grapevine but always in a second-hand sense. I
suspect others on the list, in addition to myself, would appreciate contact
information. Can someone lend a hand with a recent address or telephone
number?

The URL for the SWET website is http://www.infopage.net/swet

There is also a SWET mailing list, SWET-L. To subscribe, send an e-mail to
listserv at peach.ease.lsoft.com with the message: subscribe SWET-L Firstname
Lastname. Leave the subject line blank.

I've been a SWET member since 1985 and have found it to be a great way to
network and learn the ropes of being a writer, editor or translator in
Japan. SWET now has monthly meetings in Tokyo featuring speakers on a wide
variety of topics, including translation.Highly recommended!
