Another interesting HK movie on gangsters is Sister Thirteen,in which
lesbianism is also problematized,though only marginally.Video with English
subtitles available.In terms of pop Japanophile references Jim Jarmusch's
latest movie on the Way of the Samurai might be interesting,with the
protagonist citing Hagakure and carrying Rashomon (the book) as ultimate
reference all around him.The parody of the tough guy mafia/yakuza gangster
(Kitano is obviously in the background too) is interesting here.
