Dear Geert van Bremen,
This is a wonderful piece of information... i had already resigned myself to
idea that i will not find any written material on the man in any language
but japanese.
Rotterdam is a really great festival, and i had a seriously enriching
festival experience when i went there in January... it makes me feel even
more appreciative of their work that they were on the ball enough to have
done a retrospective on Kawashima Yuzo... i'm gonna bug Gerwin Tamsma for
the book (do u know him?) ...
and what do you do yourself by the way...? thanks for the ISBN and
e-contacts too...
when i was in japan i decided i loved the film (Shitoyakana Kemono) enough
to splurge on an unsubtitled VHS copy, do you know if there's an official
subtitled VHS release or an unofficial one done within Kinema Club? I also
have another VHS tape of his film that he shot in the same year 1962 (i have
been told that the title translates to something like Temple of Bird, or
something...)
Perhaps i will try to get these subbed and submit to the group...
thanks again!
naguib
