Kitano and commercials

Can anyone shed any light on why Kitano Takeshi does not feature in Japanese 
TV commercials?  Perhaps he has in the past, I'm not sure.  Considering he 
is practically inescapable as he currently appears on five different 
networks, it seems rather odd that he would be one of the few geinoujin (if 
not the only one) to abstain from becoming some company's poster boy. 
Perhaps he is too busy, but then he seems to possess an inhuman ability to 
simultaneously produce tv, movies, books, art, and unfortunately music.  Any 
ideas?
