Back and Atom

Back in the saddles after a few days at the YIDFF.  Seems there was not 
much discussion while I was gone, but perhaps that's because so many 
KineJapanners were in Yamagata.  Thanks for coming!

Just this bit of news off the wire:

Columbia Pictures has announced they will produce an American version of 
Tezuka Osamu's classic _Tetsuwan Atomu_ under the tentative title _Astro 
Boy_ (the foreign release title for the Atom animated version back in the 
1960s).  The film is set for release in summer of 2001.  The film 
apparently will not be animated, but live action with thorough use of CG 
technology for Atom.
