FACULTY POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, International Media Industries, full-time
tenure-track position in the Department of Media Arts to begin Fall 2000

Duties and Responsibilities:

  Sustain significant agenda of scholarly work leading to successful
        promotion and tenure;
  Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in media industry studies;
  Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students;
  Serve the administrative and development needs of the Department, the
        College of Fine Arts and The University of Arizona through
        committee work;
  Participate in interdisciplinary initiatives within the College and The
        University

The successful candidate will have comprehensive knowledge of
international media business practices, audiences and markets (preference
for specialization in Latin American and/or non-Western markets, and the
impact of technology on media industry practices); demonstrate
understanding of the creative and artistic processess of the media arts;
be comfortable in a program that integrates production, critical studies,
industry studies, and career preparation; and demonstrate strength and
potential in scholarship, teaching, and grant-funded research.

Ph.D.; other terminal degree appropriate to the field; or advanced degree
in a related field and significant professional experience.

a tenured position at the
Associate or senior level depending upon qualifications beginning July 1,
2000.  Film Studies is the fourth largest undergraduate major in the School
of Humanities and has a new Ph.D. Program in Visual Studies  administered
