Richie book

Aaron and David mentioned Donald Richie's new book. I have not seen the
manuscript yet, but he has told me he is not merely reworking old material
but writing a new survey of Japanese film, from the beginning to the
present, incorporating much new scholarship. He's working on the current
decade now and should have the manuscript ready for delivery to the
publisher shortly. This, I think, is the magnum opus (one of several
actually) that he wants to be remembered for.
