"Kaibyou" (Ghost Cat) series

A friend is looking for English-language information on the "Ghost Cat" 
(Kaibyou) film series (c. 1953-1970?) by Daiei, Shin-Toho, Toei.  I don't 
think it's one series but a group of movies based on the Saga clan legends 
of 350 years ago.  We have the Weisser and Galbraith materials--is there 
anything in English more in-depth?  And how could my friend get ahold of a 
copy or two of them?  I understand some of the Daiei titles at least are 
available on video.
