It seems that the people at Matsuda Eigasha, who have long brought us
silent movies with benshi accompaniment, have opened up a new venture:
Tokyo Kinema Kurabu, a theater restaurant showing movies with benshi
accompaniment each night (and some weekend matinees). I really wonder if
this will be a success or not, but it has started this month with movies
featuring Chaplin, Keaton, Kurama Tengu, etc. Not only Sawato Midori,
but also other benshi will perform, occasionally with live music. The
theater is located near Uguisudani Station, in a building that actually
houses the dance hall featured in Shall We Dance.

Inquiries can be made at 03-3874-7988.
