"horror" film

This is what I meant to say. For a starter its good, but there are numerous
factual errors and typos, and the writing style borders on the downright
annoying at times. However, I have yet to see a more comprehensive guide to
what's actually out there, even though Weisser's focus is is hardly
representative of Japanese cinema in general - some startling emmissions and
a bias towards Nikkatsu's 'pink films', most of which you'll never get a
chance to see (nor would you want to!) It seems more conceived of as a
catalogue for his semi-legit 'Video Search of Miami' service.

I have to concur here. I own the book, and while Weisser's tastes are broad
and thorough, he makes some of the most amazing factual mistakes -- he got
Nagai Go and Tezuka Osamu confused, for instance. It's good as a basic
guide to what's out there, and there are some real treasures in it, but one
wonders where he gets a lot of his facts from.
