Dear fellow list members,
Apologies if you've come across this call for papers elsewhere, but I'm sending it along in the hopes that it will help generate some film-related panels or workshops for this fall's conference here at Brown.
Feel free to get in touch if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Kerry Smith
New England Conference of the Association for Asian Studies
Brown University
September 30 - October 1, 2000
Call for Papers
The 2000 annual meeting of the New England Conference of the Association for Asian Studies will be hosted by the Department of East Asian Studies at Brown University on Saturday, September 30 and Sunday, October 1. Proposals are invited for panels, individual papers, and roundtables/workshops in all areas of Asian Studies. Saturday's sessions will focus on panel and individual presentations; roundtable and workshop programs will be held on Sunday morning. Interdisciplinary proposals are especially encouraged, as are forums focusing on K-12 education.
The deadline for submission of panel , individual paper and roundtable proposals is Friday, June 2, 2000. Proposals should include a summary or abstract of each paper, and a description (where applicable) of the panel's purpose. The format for panels should include three or four presenters, a chairperson and if desired, a discussant. We encourage panel organizers to be creative in their approach, and where possible to limit paper presentations in favor of structures that will encourage discussion and scholarly exchange.
Proposal forms may be downloaded from the conference web site at your convenience. Forms may be submitted via regular mail, fax, or e-mail; an on-line submission format will be available as well. The Conference program will be determined by early July.
