Eri Chiemi and Eartha Exoticism

Thanks to Roland, as yes,  "Usukudara" is the name of the tune that Eartha
Kitt--I couldn't remember--sang so happily for her English and American
audiences--in what? the late 50s and 60s.  (I am not sure of the dates
here)  Of course, the point is not that the US is the origin of all such
these songs, but one has to think carefully about the routes that they
traverse.
