Dear Asian Studies Community,
The next session of the Southern California Japan Seminar will feature
Craig McTurk screening "Tokyo Blues," his highly-regarded documentary on
jazz in Japan. A discussion will follow the film.
8-10 pm
May 4, 2000
161 Dodd Hall (located near Murphy Hall), UCLA
Mr. McTurk has also produced "Street Songs: Pittsburgh's Street Singer
Bill
Dorsey." The seminar is sponsored by the USC/UCLA Joint East Asian Studies
Center. Samuel Yamashita (history, Pomona College) coordinates the
seminar.

Directions to UCLA:
- Traveling on 405-N, exit at Sunset Blvd. and turn right.
- Traveling on 405-S, exit at Sunset Blvd. Turn left onto Church Ln. and
proceed to Sunset Blvd.
Turn left at Sunset Blvd.
- Proceed on Sunset Blvd. for about 2 miles and turn right at Hilgard Ave.
Continue on Hilgard Ave. and turn right on Westholme. Proceed to UCLA
Parking and Information booth for directions to Dodd Hall and parking
location. (Parking permits are $5/day.)
