Naive Question
  The first is the story of a railway employee who for many years serves the
railway loyally at a remote station. Shortly before his retirement the line
is closed through lack of customers.

  I think thats "Poppoya - Railroad Man" with Takakura Ken. It is  available
as a  subtitled HK DVD, and

  there should also be a subtitled Japan DVD.
