Montreal: There is a search engine

Yesterday was the closing ceremony of the Montreal WFF. Twelve japanese
movies were presented(without counting the co-production), including
Colorful from Nakahara Shun in the official competition, which received
rather bad reviews. Unfortunately, I didn't see it, so I can't make my own
judgement. However, I saw Pickpocket and I liked it very much. This film
brings a stream of fresh air on this theme, different from his predecessors,
Bresson's Pickpocket or Jia Zhangke's Xiao Wu.
Despite the fact that no japanese movies seemed to attract public
attention(even if they paid a tribute to Shindo Kaneto and presented his
last movie for world premiere), the asian movies haven't lost everything
since Gong Li won the best female performance(ex-aequo with Isabelle Hupert)
for her role in Sun Zhou's Breaking the silence.
If you have any questions regarding the festival, please don't be afraid to
ask.
