Black lizard

I also saw Kinji Fusakasu's Black Lizard at the Etrange Festival. Although some 
parts are outdated, I found it very interesting, especially in the fact that 
the role of the Black Lizard was played by a man and in the appearance of 
Mishima. We saw him only a few seconds but when you know his work and his life, 
you understand the real meaning of the scene.
And I would like to know if the fact that a woman role is played by a man is 
common in such "recent" films (1968).
