New Battle Royale

The papers reported that Fukasaku Kinji and Toei, quite happy with the 
2.4 billion yen Battle Royale has earned so far at the box office, have 
decided to release a "special director's cut" in April.  The new version 
will include some scenes cut from the original plus new scenes being 
prepared right now.  It will reportedly add more emphasize on the 
personal stories and recollections of the students.  The release of a 
"director's cut", getting quite common in the US, is rare for a Japanese 
film.
