Ring Remake

The February 1 Variety story on Dreamworks' acquisition of remake rights to
The Ring doesn't mention that Fine Line bought US rights, including remake
rights, to the film back in November 1999 -- and proceeded to do nothing
with them.

Having coughed up $1 million, Dreamworks is presumably serious about getting
the film before the cameras -- but then we are still waiting for that
Miramax remake of Shall We Dance? starring Tom Hanks.
