Just a quick reminder to all London dwellers that tomorrow night (Thurs, Oct
4th) at 6.30pm-7.30pm, as part of a series of lectures entitled ?Japan ?
Quest for the New? held at London University? School of African and Oriental
Studies, French film historian and critic Max Tessier will be delivering a
lecture on ?How the New Japanese Cinema Has Conquered the West. (A rather
bizarre lecture title considering that Japanese cinema is a long long way
from even coming close to conquering UK cinema screens, with only about 3
titles a year making it to general release, and Tony Rayns? Unseen Gems from
Japan season this August meeting with a mixed reception)
Asia House, who have organised the event, have not got much information on
their website at the moment (www.asiahouse.org), so I?ll have to type up the
details from their leaflet in full:
