Now this is why I like living in Paris so much. Aside from the Shimizu
season at the Maison de la culture du Japon which Christophe already
reported on, the French Cinematheque is running a nearly complete
retrospective of the work of Shohei Imamura in November.
Taking place between October 31 and November 30, it features every film he's
made, save for three made-for-tv titles. Also included are two films he
wrote but did not direct: Yuzo Kawashima's BAKUMATSU TAIYODEN (1959) and
Kirio Urayama's KYUPORA NO AMU MACHI (1962), plus Kazuo Hara's THE EMPEROR'S
NAKED ARMY MARCHES ON / YUKI YUKITE SHINGUN (1987).
The Cinematheque's website doesn't mention any information yet, but this
should appear soon enough:

For those interested, the Cinematheque is giving similar treatment to George
A. Romero and Jerzy Skolimowski in December, as well presenting seasons on
European Westerns and films based on the work of De Sade. All before the
year is over.
