I think I'll be returning to Kinejapan once everyone has calmed down and 
this forum has returned to what it's meant for: discussion about Japanese 
cinema.

I'm not sure if this is the place to fight ideological battles. Didn't we 
join Kinejapan because we are unified by our love for Japanese cinema, a 
unification which goes beyond each member's political views and ideological 
beliefs? There are over four hundred people on this mailing list and I think 
differences in political viewpoints are pretty much a given because of that. 
But those differences shouldn't matter in a place like Kinejapan, because 
it's not why we're here.

One could argue that it is trivial, or perhaps even insulting, to talk about 
a subject like movies in the light of this tragedy. If so, then perhaps the 
best and most proper course of action for all concerned would be to refrain 
from posting for a while.
