Celebrity in contemporary Japan

I`m writing my final paper on media celebrities and their social
significance in Japan. Concentrating on television (aidoru und tarento) I
want to depict the role of entertainment and media celebrities in the lifes
of the Japanese.
I`m greatful for any hints and information in general, but I wonder if
anyone would know how celebrities (gein?jin, gein?kai) are defined in Japan
in terms of the law. I`m looking for the legal definition of a celebrity.
