Mike Hama DVD

I got a mail from Amazon.co.jp announcing that the Mike Hama TV series 
will be coming out on DVD September 26th. Boy, that surprised me, since 
the series isn't even over yet. Perhaps such DVD sales were part of the 
plan for this unusual series from the beginning?
