I'd imagine the tape would look pretty much identical, as the 60's Koji
Wakamtsu's I've seen on VHS look pretty bad as well.

Uplink's DVD of Masao Adachi's "Jogakusei Gerira" looks marginally better,
being in widescreen. It's still a shame that these Nippon Erotics discs are
all sourced from dupey-looking video masters; the three 60's films have an
interview with Wakamatsu and Adachi as an extra so the filmmakers are
involved with these releases, and one would have thought Wakamatsu, if
anyone, would be aware of someone possessing actual prints of these films.

Uplink's DVD of Pavel Klushantsev's "Planet Bur" / "The Planet of Storms"
(1962) incidentally looks wonderful - and is highly recommended - and would
seem to be evidence that they can produce a very fine-looking DVD when
decent source material is at their disposal.
