Interesting reference book

A new reference book arrived in our library, and I thought it was worth 
mentioning:

Sato Tsutomu, Mizoguchi Kenji Zensakuhin Kaisetsu 1 (Toko Kindai 
Bungeisha, 2001). People might recognize Sato as the man who wrote the 
slick book on Blood and Soul and edited the Film Art-sha reader on 
Mizoguchi. This is the first of a series of reference books on 
Mizoguchi's films. Aside from fairly compact, but very interesting, 
kaisetsu, Sato includes a pretty impressive array of references for 
each film. This includes obscure mentions of the films, major and minor 
film magazines, and newspapers from all over the place. Anyone doing 
work on Mizoguchi will want to look this up. Unfortunately, the first 
book only goes up to Mizoguchi's earthquake film.
