Harikomi '57 vs '00

One of the films playing in the current Japanese film noir program at NYC's 
Japan Society is Yoshitaro Nomura's 1957 film HARIKOMI / THE CHASE (see 
http://www.japansociety.org/film.htm for more info).

Volume 4 in the recent Love Cinema series was also titled HARIKOMI (English 
title STAKEOUT), directed by Tetsuo Shinohara. Would anyone know if this a 
remake of Nomura's film or if it's in any other way related?
